More than something
on the wall
From movie sets to joyful abstraction.
For over 25 years, I worked in the film industry, bringing stories to life on screen by crafting immersive sets.
I still do, from time to time. But I slowly realised I needed a space to create something of my own.
Painting started like that. Not as a big decision, more as something I kept coming back to.
It’s become an essential part of my life — a place where I feel more aligned, and where my own stories can take shape.
“Happy music is when you hear it, you start moving and shaking something automatically, that’s what it is. And you smile a lot too”
— Maceo Parker
I want my paintings to bring you that same smile and sense of lightness.
Art changes a room. Not by matching the sofa — but by shifting the atmosphere.
My paintings are made to be lived with. To bring colour, texture, and a bit of boldness into ordinary days, and a spark of joy along the way.
In the studio
Balancing freedom with intention, my paintings are visual diaries — vibrant, textured scenes built from personal memories, dreams and a hint of fantasy.
I don’t plan everything in advance. I respond to what happens on the surface. The painting builds slowly, each layer informing the next, until it feels balanced.
The result is work that is vibrant and layered, but also open — inviting you to explore rather than simply look.
In the spotlight: Curatory Magazine, Vol. 7
My work and story are featured in volume #7 of Curatory Magazine, both online and in print.
In the interview, I speak about my transition from film sets to painting, what inspires me in the studio, and how my collections take shape. Several of my works appear alongside the conversation.

"Hélène’s artworks transport me to the gardens of my childhood and dreams, bursting with vibrant colours and pure joy that never fails to bring a smile to my face. Witnessing her creative process and watching her “garden” flourish is a delight that I cherish"
