Hello Subscriber First Name I started these two paintings as a test, nothing planned. I wanted to try a new way of working: stretching canvas onto a board so I could treat it like wood — scraping, pushing, going hard on the surface — and then removing it later to stretch it properly. It was meant to be quick, messy, just using leftover paint. But as it often happens, once I started playing with the surface, I got pulled in. Shapes started to appear… and one shape leading to another, palm trees were there. They were supposed to be experiments, maybe even failures, and somehow, they turned into two pieces I really love.
One problem though: I wasn’t sure if removing the canvas from the board would destroy everything.
So when the time came, I held my breath… and it worked perfectly.
Now I know I can push this technique further, keeping that raw, tactile freedom, but with the lightness of canvas in the end.
